Almost Record Snowfall for the 2016-17 Season

It should come as no surprise after an unprecedented amount of snow, that this season would go down as one of the best in Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s history. Since the start of reliable record-keeping, the biggest winter we’d seen previosuly was the ’96-’97 season which boasted 585 inches of snow. Prior to closing day this past Sunday, the plot atop the Aerial Tram had detected 590 inches since October 1. But it’s too early to make the call that the ’16-’17 has bested the season 20 years ago. Resort officials said Monday that they were waiting on an official Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center report and were not yet prepared to call this winter record-breaking. While we wait with baited breath to find out, check out this News and Guide article on the epic-ness that was this season.
